DRIVER EDUCATION CLASSES

Our Driver Education Class is an academic class.  DANVILLE DRIVING SCHOOL strongly feels that every teenager needs a solid foundation from which they will reinforce safe driving habits for the rest of their lives.  Our Instructors not only address a wide variety of traffic rules and regulations, they amplify this material, providing an explanation of the necessity of these laws.  Students take daily notes and see films crucial to their understanding of risk and responsibility.  They learn material relevant to performing well on both the DMV Permit Test and the Driver License Exam, and demonstrate better judgment as well as retention of this material because the classroom has given them another dimension of understanding.

A teenager may take the 4 day Driver Education class before the 15½ year permit eligibility requirement.  DANVILLE DRIVING SCHOOL believes that if a teen does this, they will have an opportunity to understand and observe the skills and behaviors they see on the road before they are behind the wheel of a car.  Some teens may prefer to take the course closest to their eligibility requirement because they want the material to be fresh in their minds, but test scores do not reveal any advantage to waiting.  Usually scheduling and personal preferences dictate the best time to take this class.

SUNDAY SERIES

During the academic school year, we offer ongoing Driver Education classes on Sundays from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.  (Saturdays are reserved for Traffic School Classes.)  It takes 4 classes to complete the course.  Ideally, these are done on a consecutive basis.  This, however, is not always possible and is not mandatory.  We understand that students often have prior commitments or appointments and may need to miss a class.  WE ARE FLEXIBLE ABOUT MISSED CLASSES.

We track attendance and you may easily reschedule any class or portion of a class you miss.  If a student misses a morning or afternoon session, or an entire day, he or she can simply make it up.  Months with 5 Sundays or months with holidays will require some adjustment in the class schedule.  A typical Sunday Series will follow this format:

Class 1 = the FIRST Sunday of the month
Class 2 = the SECOND Sunday of the month
Class 3 = the THIRD Sunday of the month
Class 4 = the FOURTH Sunday of the month

Morning Session:  Begins at 9:30 am, Snack & Restroom Break around 10:45 am
Lunch Break: Begins around 12:45 pm
Afternoon Session:  Begins at 1:30 pm, Snack & Restroom Break around 2:45 pm
Class Over:  Ends at 4:30 pm

ACADEMIC BREAK CLASSES

Academic Break Classes are offered over Thanksgiving, the 2 weeks over Christmas and Spring Break.  Depending on the holiday, the 4 day course will be completed within the Break Week.

SUMMER SERIES

At the end of the school year, we begin our Summer Series which runs Tuesdays through Fridays, beginning at 10 am and ending at 5 pm.

Morning Session:  Begins at 10:00 am, Snack & Restroom Break around 11:15 am
Lunch Break:  Begins around 1:15 pm
Afternoon Session: Begins at 2:00 pm, Snack & Restroom Break around 3:15 pm

OVER THE WEEKEND ENROLLMENT

If you wish to drop off a Registration Form, obtain a Certificate, or just want to meet our friendly staff in person, we are often in the office over the weekend conducting classes.   Please feel free to check our Saturday Traffic School or Sunday Driver Education Class Schedule here on our website.  While we do not answer our business phone over the weekend, we are available to take care of your needs in person.  We are here to serve YOU, our VALUED CUSTOMER!

ONLINE SERVICES

While DANVILLE DRIVING SCHOOL emphatically believes in the quality and advantage of classroom learning, we realize this is not always feasible.  Should the classroom simply not work with your schedule, we also offer the flexibility of Driver Education Online.

If you wish to use the DANVILLE DRIVING SCHOOL Online Program, which is more comprehensive than other online services, you may be registered over-the-phone.  We will give you an Access Code and a 62 Day Window to complete the course.  When you’ve finished your program, simply phone us at (925) 837-8235 and we will mail you your required certificate or make arrangements for you to come by the office to pick it up.

Please note that the DMV will not administer your written permit test without all necessary forms.  We recommend you save yourself time and frustration by reviewing the DMV REQUIREMENTS TO OBTAIN A PERMIT OR LICENSE section of this website.  We have all the forms you need.

Please consider online services only if your schedule prohibits classroom attendance.  While we are happy to enroll you in any of the classes we offer, remember that fatalities do not happen online.  Learning about safety from a licensed, experienced professional does make a difference.
